Thank you for all your questions about our dear horse, Chica. Here are some answers to your questions from her trainer, Inger!
How does Chica like to be brushed?
Chica really loves to be groomed and taken care of. She especially enjoys when I brush her face with a soft brush. She also appreciates when I hold her around her head and cuddle her. The only thing she does not like is having her ears touched.

How high has Chica been jumping?
I have not yet jumped with Chica. Rebecca did some training last summer and Chica just loved it. They jumped obstacles approximately 24-27 inches high and our lovely mare was well above them! If Chica were younger, she would certainly be trained to become a great jumper!
How many times a week do you train her?
I ride her 4-5 times a week, maximum one hour at a time.

What are the next steps in her training?
We are still doing basic riding, as Chica hadn't had much training before she came to El Rancho. In our daily training I try to make Chica calmer. We do a lot of walk and trot - at a calm pace. And I also train her to stand still without being nervous. |

Do you put a cover on Chica this time of year in Spain?
Bettan, the Swedish Editor, sent her a thick winter cover last year - but she only uses it at night. Though it's winter, the horses don't need to be covered during the day here in Spain.
What kind of bit and saddle do you use? What color is the bridle?
I use a "three-part-bit" she likes that the best. The bridle is black, made of leather and the saddle is a jumping saddle that works fine.
